Mumbai airport arrests three foreign nationals for using fraudulent Indian passports

Mumbai airport immigration officials arrested three foreign nationals from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal on Oct. 3 and 4, 2026 for allegedly obtaining and using fraudulently acquired Indian passports.
The arrests took place at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
Police suspect the passports were obtained using forged documents and false information, allegedly with the help of agents in Mumbai and Kolkata.
Robindra Mondal, 48, a Bangladeshi national, was intercepted while attempting to fly to Abu Dhabi with Paris as his onward destination, and investigators found records of two Bangladeshi passports issued in Dhaka.
Deepak Prakash Giri, 40, a Nepalese national arriving from Kathmandu, allegedly used an Indian passport obtained through false details and had traveled to several countries using it.
Taza Khan Zurmati, an Afghan national, was stopped while attempting to fly to Dubai under another identity after immigration officials found Afghan passport and visa records that questioned his identity.
Police are investigating the larger document-forgery network and the agents allegedly responsible for helping foreign nationals obtain Indian identity documents and passports.
