telangana mla malreddy ranga reddy faces backlash over bus interaction with student

Telangana Congress MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy faces allegations of inappropriate behavior after a video surfaced from an Oct. 6 bus trip.
The 70-year-old legislator was traveling on a TSRTC bus between Ibrahimpatnam and Yamjal in Ranga Reddy district to speak with beneficiaries of the Mahalakshmi scheme.
The Mahalakshmi scheme provides free bus travel to women, girls, and transgender people.
During the interaction, a college student said the scheme had saved her about ₹45,000.
The video appears to show the MLA holding her hand while she tries to move away.
Playback singer Chinmayi Sripada criticized the MLA and said he appeared to have no understanding of consent.
For families tracking student safety and public accountability in Telangana, the incident has drawn sharp criticism online.
