Proposed U.S. House bill seeks up to $250,000 fines and 10-year bans for H-1B violations

U.S. House lawmakers proposed a bill that introduces fines of up to $250,000 for employers committing serious H-1B visa violations, according to media reports.

The proposed measure also includes a 10-year ban for employers found committing severe program violations.

Separately, the Trump administration plans to reveal findings on alleged misuse of both H-1B and J-1 visas, according to media reports.

The penalty provisions remain legislative proposals in Congress and have not taken effect.

The proposed measure would apply financial penalties and program bans directly to employers sponsoring H-1B visas if passed by Congress.
