Collider ranks The Exorcist as its top horror film

Collider ranked 10 horror films as "god-tier," with The Exorcist (1973) taking the top spot. The publication places The Shining, Psycho, Jaws, Alien, The Thing, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Halloween, Night of the Living Dead, and Get Out in the remaining positions. Collider highlights how these films turn reassuring environments into sources of danger through themes of vulnerability, helplessness, and distrust. The publication notes that nine of the ten selected films were released between 1960 and 1982. Get Out (2017) is the sole modern entry on the list. Collider clarifies that the ranking and critical judgments are its own and not an objective consensus.
